My Search Engine Optimisation Checklist - SEO
Sep 13, 2023Why you need to optimise your website for SEO plus my Search Engine Optimisation Checklist.
This is a really simplified version that will serve the budding and seasoned spiritual entrepreneur. SEO doesn't have to be complicated and no, you do not need to pay an agency big bucks to do it for you. I have learnt and practiced a very easy to follow protocol for when I'm adding new content to my websites as well as my clients whether it's a sales page or full website. I'm going to share it with you here.
Following this protocol will help your business to be found organically on Google, by the right people.
But let's have a quick look at 'why' we need to optimise out content for SEO - in-short every piece of content that you're adding to your website will be scrolled by google and will contribute or take away from your Google Ranking.
Regular fresh content is the key! Hence why we Blog, like this! I've written blog posts over here that are still driving traffic to my website over 5 years later. You can see why it's worth putting a little bit of extra care into the content you're creating for your website. Investing in a website that is optimised for SEO is crucial in the online space.
For example.
An original, well written blog post that is about a topic that is relevant to your business, that includes links, and the below items will be loved by google. This could be a blog post about a Yoga practice for the Moon Cycle by a Yoga Teacher who sells yoga courses for women.
OR
Say you feel lazzzzy and just want to get something up there, you decide to copy and paste information about Yoga and Moon Cycles from other blog posts and websites. Stringing them all together and then sharing that as your own. This can have detrimental effects on your overall SEO - Google penalises content that's been copied. This also goes if you copy your own product information or if you run two websites and copy the exact same blog post form one website to another, even when it's your own info - duplicate content is a no go.
General Landing Page and Blog Posts Checklist
- Keyword phrase - this is what your future clients and customers are searching for across the web, so it's important that your content includes searchable words. I use MozBar for my keyword research. Now make sure it's located in the following areas:
- Page Title
- URL/Slug
- Page Copy
- Keyword phrase densityLength of text
- Images
- Meta/Page Description
- Blogpost Tags
It's also helpful to have links in your blog post:
- Outbound Links - links to other website pages that aren't connected to your website.
- Inbound Links - links that are connected to your website.
Blogposts - why do we need to blog regularly?
Put simply, adding fresh content your website regularly will benefit your ranking in google as it scrolls the web for fresh content and if your website is stagnant it will rank lower. There are other reasons, but this is the basic reason. Start with a monthly blog and build up to more.
I didn't learn this overnight, this has been years in the making and from a very good teacher, check out Weboinize for more SEO tips and tricks. Yes she's my sister in law, but she's bloody good at what she does! I've shared the basics here, but you can dive deeper into the world of SEO.
